Challenges
To design an energy-efficient building with security measures able to protect the building and its inhabitants — military support teams for civil authorities (MSC) — against terrorism threats.
Solution
The design featured maximum feasible standoff distance from parking areas and laminated glazing in the windows. The cost effective energy conserving features, including an energy management control system and high efficiency motors, incorporated lighting and HVAC systems. Once the building was completed, AMES A/E was contracted to complete a similar project for the Georgia Army National Guard’s civil support team.
