To design a multifunctional building able to serve both visitors and area residents year-round and to showcase historical and natural exhibits along with high-tech and contemporary exhibits.
Solution
- AMES A/E created a floor plan that features a main entry and an exhibit area that showcases the technologies, resources, and products currently and historically available in Maine.
- The NREC Building Committee and AMES A/E met several times with the University of Maine’s Advanced Structures and Composites Laboratory to consider the possibility of teaming with the lab in the design and production of key structural features for the education center.
